Manajemen Komunikasi dan Edukasi (MKE) merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam pengelolaan rumah sakit. MKE berperan dalam memastikan kelancaran komunikasi dan edukasi antara berbagai pihak yang terlibat dalam pelayanan kesehatan, yaitu pasien, keluarga, tenaga kesehatan, dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya.

Komunikasi yang efektif antara berbagai pihak tersebut dapat meningkatkan mutu pelayanan kesehatan. Hal ini karena komunikasi yang efektif dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan kepatuhan pasien terhadap pengobatan dan perawatan, meningkatkan kepercayaan pasien terhadap rumah sakit, dan meningkatkan kepuasan pasien.

Komunikasi yang efektif dalam konteks pelayanan kesehatan dapat diartikan sebagai komunikasi yang:

  • Tepat sasaran: Pesan komunikasi disampaikan kepada pihak yang tepat, yaitu pasien, keluarga, tenaga kesehatan, atau pemangku kepentingan lainnya.
  • Jelas dan mudah dipahami: Pesan komunikasi disampaikan dengan bahasa yang jelas dan mudah dipahami oleh penerima pesan.
  • Konsisten: Pesan komunikasi disampaikan secara konsisten oleh berbagai pihak yang terlibat dalam pelayanan kesehatan.

MKE di rumah sakit dapat dilakukan melalui berbagai kegiatan, antara lain:
